Community Uplift Projects International (C.U.P) was founded in 1989 by Samuel Koilpillai, who continues to manage the project as its President and C.E.O.

It’s goal is to sustain the Anantha Ashram Trust in India.  Anantha Ashram (literally translated means “A Place of Eternal Values” provides a shelter and home for abandoned children and to provide general healthcare and hygiene training to local people in and around the town of Hosur in Southern India.

A project such as this takes on many lives; the first of which was the Children’s Home.  The Anantha Ashram Children’s Home is a place of safety for the unwanted and abandoned children of the rural town of Hosur.  As many as 50 infants and children are cared for at any one time in the Children’s Home.

The need for appropriate healthcare was a primary concern for Mr. Koilpillai as well and with his background in community health, he was able to get a rural clinic started on the Anantha Ashram grounds.  Today that rural clinic has grown to a small hospital with emergent care, an ambulance and 50 beds.  Doctors are on staff that can perform major life-saving surgery as well as provide general check ups and sick visits.
